Suffolk County Police allegedly observed a man driving a 2014 Dodge Dart in the westbound lanes of Route 109 in West Babylon on Thursday, Oct. 31 around 12:45 a.m.

The officer initiated a traffic stop after confirming that the man had allegedly driven the vehicle approximately one mile in the wrong direction and passed at least three other vehicles, including a tractor-trailer.

The driver, identified as Jeffrey Leach, 29, of Lindenhurst, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and several traffic violations. He was held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, Oct. 31.
